On Thursday, December 6, 2012, the traditional editors-in-chief lunch debate took place. The formation between VVD and PvdA will go down in history as one of the fastest and one of the quietest post-war cabinet formations. How do the media look back on it? Was it more quiet than other times? Why did so little information come out? And did this method have consequences for news reporting after the formation was completed? Was the “care premium uprising” a typical media hype or a predictable consequence of a quiet and rapid formation process? These and other questions were discussed on 6 December. Participants included: Wouter Bax (Nu.nl), Marcel Gelauff (NOS), Christiaan Ruesink (AD) and Harm Taselaar (RTL).
