As tradition is now, the Machiavelli Foundation held a campaign leaders debate in the morning after the elections. After the municipal elections of March 20, 2014, this breakfast debate took place as well. It looked back on the campaign. The debate was attended by Hans Spekman (PvdA), Hans Janssens (CDA), Maarten Hijink (SP), Kees Verhoeven (D66) and Ronald Buijt (Leefbaar Rotterdam) and led by Wilco Boom (parliamentary reporter of the NOS) . They discussed the highlights and the low points of the campaign. What objectives did the parties have? How did they want to realize this and did they succeed? And to what extent does national politics have an influence on local results?
